Agriculture biologique / Permaculture/ Organic Farming
Organic farming is farming without chemicals (pesticides or chemical fertilisation). Organic farming differs from traditional farming because organic focusses on sustainability, respect of soil, animals, environment and health. The farmer choose traditional and modern technics to improve his crops.
Observing and knowing the plants are essential for an efficient organic farming. You will learn how to manage pest and diseases by improving the health of soil and plants. The diversity play also an important role.
The organic plants grow often more slowly than the plants in conventional intensive agriculture but they are more resistant and testfull than those grown with chemical fertlisation.
Organic farming is sustainable and a low input practice. In Africa, it could be easily introduced in development programs to improve traditional food crops or to reduce cost and environemental impact of intensive market crops.
